Acoustic Panel Wall Art: 7 Steps (with Pictures)
Initially, I considered simply cutting circles from a single large board. However, I realized that by creating concentric circles, similar to hoops where each one is smaller than the last, I could significantly reduce the material needed. This method allows a 4' x 2' board (120 x 60 cms) to extend into a massive composition across a wall, while also reducing the overall weight of the art piece. Additionally, from a more technical perspective, I believe that acoustic panels are designed to be open at the back and slightly extend from the wall. This design allows the noise-absorbing material to capture sound waves that rebound off the wall. Consequently, overlapping the circles can create the necessary space away from the wall, making reverb elimination more effective.

I did not spend much time planning the arrangement of the circles. After sketching them out as they would appear on the board, I simply dragged and dropped them into a random composition with slight overlaps. If you decide to follow my design, I recommend printing one of these images to serve as a guide. For those who prefer to create their unique layout, ensure to have your designs drawn or printed accordingly. I also fashioned small spacer blocks from the leftover material.

Feel free to create a composition that differs from mine. The concentric design works remarkably well, but you can also experiment with concentric squares, hexagons, triangles, or even irregular pebble-like shapes. One of the benefits of assembling circles for this design is that there are no 'off-square' edges, preventing misalignment. If you opt for squares, for example, the edges must align precisely with those of the neighboring pieces.
In case you have a vertical or diagonal area that suits an alternate design (like a diagonal attic wall or stairwell), feel free to adjust the composition accordingly. A single color of fabric can also create a striking visual impact.
